One life taken, one life given, one life obsessed and driven. Once upon a time, there was a love that could never be. Once upon a time a woman and a man crossed paths for a brief interval then moved on. In 1935, Alice Dunbar is a new teacher. It is her first year in a one-room school. She attends the local dances and has given her heart to a young fisherman named Raymond Sweet. Her journey is long and sometimes turbulent in the small fishing village on the shores of Northern Nova Scotia. Times can get tough when Atlantic storms take your husband to sea and you wonder if he is ever going to return to you. After three kids, trouble multiplies when a raging storm blows up the Atlantic and threatens to change the young and once again pregnant Alice's life forever.
